Why Do My Baby Fissh Die Right Away
I bought six fish for my 10 gallon tank. 2 died and apparently 1 gave birth! I now accept had these babies for about two days and they are dying! I checked my Ammonia levels and they are under command at present. What should I exercise? Should I move the babies into another tank?
I don't know what kind they are. In that location are about 10-12 of the babies and four bigger fish. I bought Red Mickey Mouse and Guppy fish.

There really is not much yous can do, except making the fish food into smaller flakes so that the babies can consume it.
I take had guppies and platys for xv years and the biggest problem is they consume the babies.
To avert this, you need to provide a lot of hiding places for them, i.east. bushy plants. Practiced luck with the fishes!

They make a floating small plastic tank especially for babies. As to keep them separated from the larger fish and then they don't go eaten. This tank floats to the top of the tank and this way they stay in the aforementioned environment; then as not to shock them. I would get become 1 of these, Wal-mart used to conduct them, but our local Wal-mart has recently quit selling fish. And so, any fish/pet store should sell them. Yous may observe it past asking for a infant guppy tank. Good luck.

I similar the idea of the floating tank for the babies! My mom used to internet them out as shortly every bit she saw them, and it helps to have the rope similar plant in there, so they can hide in the leaves. Simply the problem nosotros constitute with that plant is it will break autonomously & look sort of ugly. One fashion or the other the babies demand to be able to hide.

Your tank is mode to small. You need to take the baby fish out and some of the bigger ones. Nosotros did the aforementioned affair. We have a fifteen gallon tank and got near 8 fish and they all died. Yous just need to either get rid of some fish or become a bigger tank.

First off your tank isnt too small. Rule of pollex is what ever gallon the tank is the corporeality of inches of fish tin be house in it. For example 10 gallons x inches of fish. Your tank is prefectly fine for what y'all take but i would not add anymore to it. The fish that gave birth are most likely guppies because they tin can produce young very often and very oftentimes. Considering you have more than fish there is more than waste which means your nitrates could be high, i would suggest perhaps ownership a more than powerful filter. And the plasic container the to a higher place person is talking about is really a container for livebearers or other fish that dont intendance for their eggs/fry. Change your filter and brand water changes in one case a week at most 20% and i tin can guarantee your fish will alive. But if you plan on keeping your guppies i suggest you lot buy one of those breeding containers because y'all will keep 100% of your young and you will be able to keep them and you may even be able to sell or trade in for things at your local pet store.

Question: Fish Keep Dying?
June 22, 2012
I have had my tank for awhile, simply I don't know how many gallons it is. I accept 5 large fish and I bought viii like 8 mouths ago. I have 2 catfish and I accept 1 other, but for some reason my baby fish are dying. I have 1 out of the 8 left; 2 died today. Why does this continue happening? When they die my catfish keep sucking on them because they are stuck to the pump when they die. I don't know why they go along getting stuck to it, but when nosotros find them it is besides late. They have already died. What is wrong?

It's probable that the bigger fish are killing the smaller fish - dominion of thumb is to keep all the fish a like size in the tank. Look out for chasing during the day - in the tranquility of the night killing may happen.

Talk to the fish people at the pet store for advice, they are usually pretty helpful. Personally, I would either buy 1 of the pocket-sized isolation tanks that hangs inside of your regular tank, or buy one of the partitions they sell that you can use to divide off some portion of your tank.
Either way, it should give the babies a little time to grow before venturing out. My best guess is that either the big fish are injuring or trying to consume them, or, they are but not potent enough nevertheless not to get sucked into the filter. Good luck.
